Reality TV Brain Dump

Well, I've written before that I am a reality tv watcher....I try to not watch, but well...it sucks me in. So, here is some of my random thoughts on some of the reality tv out there that I watch...often shamefully, but well...I do.

Dancing With The Stars: The newest season just started last week. I like this show. I wish I knew how to dance like that. I know I could take classes, but well....I also know I won't. Anyways...I am annoyed already at this season. Why? One of the people I was looking forward to watching dance is Monica Seles. I loved her as a tennis player. She didn't dance very well...but I felt the judges were WAY TOO harsh on her. She got the lowest scores both nights and she was not the worst dancer on the floor. People like Penn and Adam Carolla were barely dancing....and they both got better scores than her. It just didn't seem fair...and of course, her scores sucked, so she went home last night. Just not fair. They should score everyone on the same standard...and that definitely didn't happen. And my other pet peeve...I don't think Kristi Yamaguchi should be able to be in the competition. She is a professional figure skater, so that is basically dancing on ice. I just think it makes it a less fair competition...since she has such an advantage. One of the judges said to Kristi on Monday all shocked..."I can't believe you've never danced before." Umm...she's a freakin' figure skater. *rolls eyes* And who I would like to win...Marissa Jaret Winokur (so adorable and so talented) or Shannon Elizabeth (cute and think she's a pretty decent dancer).

American Idol: I hate that I watch this show, but yes I watch it. Last year there was Sanjaya...and this year, the one that has little to no talent, but stays week after week seems to be Kristy Lee Cook. She's not awful...no one is who makes it, but in comparison to the 2 people who have gone home last...she's just dreadful. She's cute...and Simon is mean to her, so people are voting. But come on...send her HOME already. I hope she goes home tonight...if anything is right in the world, she will...but since AI is the devil, it probably means she's stay put.

Celebrity Fit Club: Boot Camp Edition: I love this show. I've said I can't stand The Biggest Loser...but CFC, I just adore. This season they are bringing back 4 former members and having them compete against 4 newbies. Usually the celebs are on the D-List...completely, but this season...I barely know who the new people are. But, what is exciting...is the vets who are back...mainly, Dustin "Screech" Diamond. On his season...he went bat shit crazy and it was fabulous to watch. Now, he's back....to do it all over again. He doesn't seem as nutjob crazy this time, but still lazy as all hell...and not very motivated to lose weight. I do think he's trying though...which is so much more than last time. What was interesting in last week's episode...is that the team elected him captain. Harvey...the Boot Camp guy said it was a mistake. What I found interesting is Tina Yothers (Family Ties) response to that...since she is the natural leader on that team. She said that she believed in Dustin...and that being the leader would help him make the changes he is hoping to make. Harvey said he didn't buy it. What was interesting to me as a social worker...is that she knows that change does not happen overnight. She knows that it will be a struggle, but that change will probably never happen if you don't believe it is possible. It was just an interesting response to a reality tv show. See...I can see social work in everything.

Alright...enough babble about reality tv...off to probably watch some more.

I watch American Idol...get over it!

I've admitted it before....I'll admit it again. I watch American Idol. I used to only watch when it was the trainwreck weeks, but would never watch during the actual competition, but since the season of Chris Daughtry...I've been staying tuned after Hollywood week.

This year...I am not as clued in as previous seasons, but there are a definite few with amazing talent. The one person who I adoringly love is Jason Castro. He's such a unique soul...and his singing is really earthy and genuine...plus, he has a set of lungs on him. He was the highlight for me this week...and I loved his song so much, I wanted to share it with all y'all. He covered "Hallelujah" and it was just breathtaking. One...that's a great song and it evokes such emotion. And two, Jason does some amazing things with it. So, check him out....he's my new favorite.

Writers Return and Politics as Usual....

I am happy to report that the writer's strike is officially over and they are heading back to work this morning. Thank goodness because they have been on strike since Nov. 5th and of course, as a result...TV has basically been driven to a halt. I haven't read what the actual terms were, but I imagine they were favorable to the writers or they wouldn't have come back. I am looking forward to seeing the Oscars, new episodes of Grey's Anatomy, The Office, etc. 24 still won't come back until the 2009 season, but at least now we now that Jack Bauer will be back at some point. And, tonight's episode of The Daily Show will be back full force with their writers and that should be entertaining to watch. Yeah for having writers...and being able to have more to watch than an array of reality TV!

And politics...it saddens me to report that things look dismal for Hillary Clinton's campaign. Barack Obama is just winning too much all over the place. He has won the last nine primary states...including the most recent in MD, VA and DC. The Clinton camp said they didn't expect to win those, which surprised me...because she is such a DC person...as a powerful Junior Senator and as the former First Lady. Clinton says that her campaign is in good shape (what else is she going to say...puh lease) and that when she wins Texas and Ohio things will be heading towards victory, but at this point...I just don't think that is going to happen. It's sad for me because I think that Hillary Clinton is the most qualified person to be President. She's a strong, smart politician and she has proven she can get things done. I like Barack...but I don't think he has the experience to show he can handle the country's most important job. He talks a great talk...I just hope he can put that talk into action. I also support Hillary because of her intensive focus on health care. It's HER issue, so I am more confident she will keep going even if it is a tough battle (which it is going to be). I worry that when the going gets tough...Obama might not keep going and fight through to victory. I've been without healthcare and I see the effects it has had daily on clients I work with...so, I desperately want a President who is going to make it a priority. I know Hillary would do that, I only hope that Barack would.

The weather is crazy this morning...so my office is quiet and quiet can be, which I will be honest...is nice.

It's Sunday already.....

Happy Sunday y'all....

This weekend has been active and also lazy. How does that work??? Well, I will tell you. On Saturday, I got up at 7am...my muscles were a little tired and checked the weather report. Saturdays are my days when I jog from my apartment to my dad's place. I heard snow was coming, so I wanted to make sure it wasn't happening in the morning. Well, the weather said that the snow wasn't coming until noon or so. I had breakfast and drank lots of water...and got my winter workout clothes on...and headed out the door.

I started jogging and still felt a little tired, so I decided I could cut the run short if I wanted to, but well...it's just not my style. So, I got to the 2.5 mile marker...and kept going. I got to the 3.5 mile marker, which is where I stopped last time...and decided to keep going. I ended up going 4.25 miles or so. I ran straight for 60 minutes...and I have never done that before. Next time, 5 miles is the goal. I felt great this week...that I kept going and pushed myself to add more distance.

My dad and I went shopping as usual...and I found an electric blanket on sale for 50% off. I wanted one a few months earlier, but they were so expensive...at least 70 dollars. That seems nuts to me. So, since it was so cheap...I threw it in the cart. I planned on paying for it, but when it came time to checkout...my dad bought it for me. He really is a kind and wonderful person...and of course, not just because he bought me a blanket. I'm a lucky girl. I also bought rechargeable batteries for my new mp3 player and so it is all juiced up again. Hopefully next week I will have a run with tunes. Oh, I plugged my blanket in last night...and turned it on low...it was nice sleeping with a blanket of warmth all around me.

It snowed off and on all day yesterday and today. The snow this morning when I went to church was light and fluffy. It is so pretty outside...I'd go take a pic of it to show you, but well...I'm too lazy. I was going to workout today, but since my bones were so tired yesterday pre-run, I decided to skip it and give myself a break. All I have done today other than church and hanging with my dad for a while...is watch TV and lounge on the couch.

I hope everyone had a great weekend...and let's hope it was more exciting than mine. Hugs all.

P.S. On schedule for the upcoming week...I am going to do my taxes and see how much I am getting back...and hopefully I won't have to pay anything.

Wednesday ramblings....

Happy Wednesday y'all.....wow, 3 days of at least one post each day. See...I go through spurts where I post all the time and then droughts where I say barely anything at all.

TV Update

I watched American Idol last night. I have shame, but I can't help myself...I love that show. And, I'll admit it...I love it for the trainwrecks and what not. Honestly, I don't care who wins (expect for Daughtry...I wanted him to win so badly, I could taste it)...but I do love watching people who think they can sing, but can't...or people who can't take the comments and go nutso. I should be above...a better person, but well...sometimes, I just can't help myself.

Moment of Truth is on tonight. I cannot get enough of this show. If you live under a rock and haven't heard of it...it's where someone answered questions while strapped to a lie detector and then on the live show, they have to answer some of them again...and if they answer the truth, they win $$$$. The premiere was last week...and had a guy on who basically put his marraige at risk for the chance to win some money. The thing I find interesting is that none of the questions are a surprise to the contestants because you have been asked them before...when you were attached to the lie detector. So, I guess...if I was ever a contestant...you have to decide if answering any of those questions is worth the consequences. Is it worth the loss of your marraige? your job? your relationship with a child? a parent? a friend? I wouldn't mind answering embarassing questions that much, but I would mind answering them if it meant that someone I cared about might not be in my life anymore. I guess sometimes you have to value some things more than money, eh?

I watched The Biggest Loser: Couples last night...well, the second half of it. I hate this show, seriously...I do. I watched it last night and was reminded why I loathe it so much. First off...I don't believe it shows healthy, sustainable weight loss. It shows people losing crazy amounts of weight in a short period of time. How is that supposed to help anyone at home? And...the message gets sent out there that the standard healthy loss of 2 lbs or so a week is horrible. When the audience sees someone get on the scale and losses 5 lbs...and then they say that it sucks and they are a loser, etc. What message does that send to people at home? Plus, it's a show more about strategy and game play than losing weight. If it was really about changing people's lives...they wouldn't vote people out. How does it really help someone to have them be there for a week or two weeks and then go home? Wouldn't it be a better show if everyone got to stay and then at the end of the show...the person with the most weight % lost...won??? Of course, but it would be less drama....and we know drama=viewers. Every once in a while...I give BL another chance...hoping I will stop hating it, but well...I don't. It sucks.

Politics Update

So...McCain won Florida...and South Carolina...and Giuliani lost Florida...where he put all his eggs in one basket. So, Rudy is dropping out...supporting McCain. Mitt Romney is still in it...but for how long? I like McCain...well, I would like him more if he wasn't so crazy in love with this war. I just can't vote for another "Stay The Course" person (not that I ever voted for Bush in the first place).

And for my dems...Hillary and Barack are fighting like children on the schoolyard. It's kind of pathetic. Poor John Edwards is the kid that no one will play with. I gotta wonder how it is going to shake out for the final candidate since Hillary and Obama keep shifting back and forth...in terms of momentum. Obama did get a huge endorsement from the Kennedy family....but Hillary still has Bill and his charisma and political power on her side. The primary for NY is next Tuesday...and I will be voting. I have no problem saying who I am voting for...it is Hillary Clinton. I like her. Her experience is unmatched...and I am very impressed with what she has done in a short period of time for NY. I think she is a powerful woman...with smart people by her side. I think she understands politics and how to get things done. I don't dislike Obama, but he's not my choice. His lack of experience is troubling. And...as time moves on, I don't trust him. It's hard to swallow his "CHANGE" platform when a lot of his campaign is old school politics. And...it's also hard to swallow his anti-lobbying front...when his campaign has been run by lobbyist. If he is the dem candidate standing when it comes to a national race...I'll support him, but right now...he just isn't the best of the best in my opinion.

So, I think that's it for now. I do want to post an update on how I am doing on my 2008 goals...so keep your eyes out for that. Hugs all!

Wife Swap

Did anyone else but me watch Wife Swap last night? I will admit, Wife Swap is one of my guilty pleasures. I love watching the two families just go bezerk. Holy bejesus...this was the first new episode in a long time.

So, who were the families? Well...one was a family who's main purpose is helping their daughter be a beauty queen. They say the word sparkle about every 4th word. The daughter has no rules. Her parents do her HOMEWORK FOR HER. She gets a Christmas present every single day to show how much they love her. The parents have spent well over $100,000 per year on her pageant activities. Oh yeah...she is 15...and looks a lot older and sexier than any 15 year old should.

And the other family...is a family of feminist. The mom is a pastor at a local church and she home schools her children because she doesn't want the misogynistic ways of school to effect her children. They are not allowed to wear makeup ever...and seem to only learn about women's history.

If you missed it...it was one hell of a ride. The pageant dad ended up trying to kick the feminist mom out of the house...and then calling her a feminist pig. He was horrible. The beauty queen mom...called the feminist daughter ugly and a geek. She also said that if people weren't interested in being beautiful...then they are a waste on the world. When the feminist mom forced the beauty queen to do her own homework...she spelled AMERICA wrong. She's 15!

It was classic...I had some shame about watching it, but no way was I clicking the channel. Sometimes...train wreck trash is just too good.

Watching some crap tv

I am watching a repeat of Celebrity Fit Club right now. It's the one with the Baywatch girl and Tina Yothers from Family Ties. I really like this show because I think it shows slow and realistic weight loss...unless The Biggest Loser. I have heard about some interesting things that they do on BL to lose weight. They go into saunas to sweat off some weight right before the weigh-in. I have heard about using some water pills, etc. I like that Celebrity Fit Club doesn't do that...they had one person who actually said she used pills...and she was yelled at by the panel. I have tried pills before...and I am glad I am no longer doing it.

One thing CFC did promote was a colon cleanse program. It was on the show a couple of years ago. They had 2 members go in and get their colon cleaned out. It is something that can get you to lose a lb or so, but it also makes your colon more healthy. So, I don't have a problem with that. It's not magic/fake weight loss. I have never done a colon cleans, but they intrigue me...maybe I will try it sometime, but I will admit...I am a little scared by it.

STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE!

So, the WGA is on strike. What does that mean? Well...it means the writers for movies and TV are on strike. They were looking to negotiate with the producers in order to get a piece of the pie when it comes to DVD and internet revenue. That doesn't seem unreasonable, does it? Maybe not to you or me, but it did to the producers....so they were not able to come to an agreement so as of Monday, the WGA went on strike.

And how does that effect you and me? Well...for one, there were no new episodes of The Daily Show all week long. Shows like TDS and Letterman and Leno...rely on daily writing because their shows are so topical...so, those were effected immediately.

I will admit it, I watch a soap opera...and they will be next to be hit. Soaps only run ahead about a week and a half. So, I might not be watching GH while I am working out on my elliptical in about a week and a half. How will I know if Lucky finds out that Jason is actually the father of Elizabeth's baby? Or how the mob war will be resolved? Or why Nicholas is having blackouts...and having Incredible Hulk angry outbursts. It's just not right...to not know the answers to these things.

And next are some shows like The Office, Grey's Anatomy, 24, Lost...shows which will have to cut the season short if the strike continues for any length of time. I heard The Office may be hit soon...and since half their cast are also writers, I am sure the cast supports the cause. Grey's will be out of episodes by the end of December....and I heard only 10 episodes of the current season of 24 are written. I guess that Kiefer won't have to worry about when to serve his jail time for his DWI...if the strike continues.

A lot of actors are really supporting the writers...they are walking the picket lines with them. I think it is great...because the writers are the back bone of any great show. An actor delivers the lines...but they would be nothing without a writing...well, writing it. I will be sad if the strike continues and my favorite shows go dark...but, I fully support the strike. I think the writers deserve to get their share...and the fat cat producers need to get over themselves and start paying them what they are due.

So...there is my mini essay on the writer's strike. Anyone else have any opinions on it? You know...of the 2 people who read here. lol

new tv lineup

So, tv premiere week has come and gone. I'll admit it, I enjoy a good tv show. I always look forward to seeing my favorite shows return and what new shows might be on the horizon. I was really looking forward to new episodes of Grey's, The Office, Ugly Betty, Bones, etc.

And there were a few new shows that I was excited to see too. I wanted to check out the Grey's spin-off 'Private Practice.' I am not sure I will like it because I didn't really like Addison's character on Grey's...but I am going to give it a shot. Plus, it has a stellar cast. I always wonder when they are making a new show...how do they test it? Do they do market research? Do they do test screenings like they do for the movies? I mean, they have to have some indication of how it might do before it hits the air waves. Hmm..always been curious as to the process of a new show actually hitting the air. Of course, I imagine it is easier with a show like Private Practice because it has the Grey's popularity to build of off, but they isn't always enough...just ask Friends Joey! lol

I also am interested in the new show Big Shots. It's a Sex in the City, but with men on ABC. It's on the Tivo...and I haven't watched it yet, but it looks interesting. Plus, it has a yummy cast. It has Dylan McDermott and Michael Vartan in it. hummina, hummina, hummina. I hope I like it...cause it looks good.

Any other new shows that people are watching this fall season?

Kiefer Sutherland gets ANOTHER DWI

I was reading some different sites on the internet...and came across the news that Kiefer Sutherland was arrested this morning for suspicion of drinking and driving. This would be the second, if not third DWI that Kiefer has gotten.

We all know that I adore Kiefer...he is one of my favorite actors ever. I just think the world of him, etc. However, I have also thought for at least a few years that his alcohol use is out of control. Maybe this last instance will make him realize he needs to get some help. He seemed to be the definition of a functioning alcoholic for a long time...drinking to excess, but still getting the things he needs to get done in life, etc.

I wonder how this might effect 24's schedule...I guess it all depends on what the outcome of the court case. I know that he got sentences to community service for his last DWI in 2004.

*shrugs*

The Emmys are amongst us!

It's 8pm...so yes, the Emmys are on. Some people hate awards shows. Some people love awards shows. I am one of the people that loves them...even when I hate them. I can't help watching it...wondering who will win and what they will say.

I love the shows...the jokes...the drama. I would love them long time if only...

The didn't have all the musical performances. If I am not watching a music awards show, I don't wanna see Madonna performing a number, especially when it has nothing to do with the awards show at all.

And...the special awards...for no reason. The show is going an HOUR long, but we still take time out to honor Roman Polanski. Who of course can't show up....because he's still on the run for raping a 13 young girl in the 70s. Stop having these special awards thing...just get to the actual awards we care about people.

But the awards go on...and yes, I care who wins.

P.S. As I was writing this Jeremy Piven just won for Entourage. That rocks my socks off! He's adorable...and funny...and not just the guy in all of John Cusack's movies ANYMORE!

UPDATE(8:37 PM): Katherine Heigl just won for Grey's...which is awesome since I love her character. First, she corrected the announcer label for pronouncing her name wrong when she was announcing an award earlier. And then...she wins. As she wins, she says this, "My mother told me I didn't have a chance in hell of winning tonight, so I have nothing prepared." People laugh. Then, it shows her mom out in the crowd and Katherine then says, "No, she is very supportive. I mean, she loves me." Too funny.

One day last week....Thursday maybe...my roommate were emailing back and forth while I was at home and she was at work. We kept sending each other funny youtube videos.

I came across this one...and it made me giggle. And of course, I had to share. I love the Mac vs. PC ads on TV...and this is even funnier than those.

Enjoy!

beauty queen katy

So, I was watching that TV show MADE on MTV. I think the show is both sad and awesome. I think it is interesting how someone wants to be made into something completely different, but once they find out it might actually be hard...the whine and complain and basically threaten to quit. Really? Doing something different should be easy as pie, eh?

Anyways...I digress. My roommate and I were watching a marathon of MADE on MTV. The last episode we watched...was this girl in Vermont who was the definition of tomboy. And of course, she wanted to be made into a beauty queen so that the boys would notice how hot she was and want to date her. The fact that they didn't address the complete lack of self esteem of this girl was heart breaking, but none the less.

On this girl's journey to be a beauty queen...her MADE coach was none other than the former Miss Vermont, Katy Johnson. Did I mention I went to college with Katy Johnson?? Here is a pic of Katy...in all her beauty pageant glory:

She's a pretty girl...without a doubt. I will say it brought me such joy that in the MADE episode, it kept showing close ups of Katy...and good god, her skin is horrible. She's still pretty...in a Monet kind of way. She's pretty til you get up close and see how bumpy and splotchy her skin is. Eww. Did I mention that I loathe Katy with a passion? I am sure you are asking yourself why....and well, I'll tell you a story. Get some popcorn...and have a seat.

Okay, so Katy transferred to my college during my senior year. Why? Because she was in Florida and competed in Miss Florida...and lost, horribly. Katy wasn't ready to give up on her Miss America dreams...so she decided to move to a new state. Vermont wasn't a bad choice...because if you look at the girls who usually win from Vermont...well, they are much less plasticy and sometimes might have hay stuck in their teeth. So, Katy had a pretty good chance of winning the whole shebang.

So...she transferred in for the spring semester. She moved from Florida to Vermont in the middle of winter...and I remember the day she showed up...and didn't bring a coat. Anyways...not why I loathe her.

I had a class with Katy. It was a small class...only 5 people in the class and 3 of them were named Katy. So, myself and the other classmates...gave nicknames to all the other Katys. One was mousy Katy...cause, well...she's mousy. One was just Katy...cause well, she's cool and there is no other. And then there was Beauty Queen Katy...cause well..duh. She was always perfect...well done up...especially since it was a film class and the instructor often worked on films during the summer session, so Katy wanted to look her best. One time...one of the other Katys and I had lunch with our professor and he called Katy "Beauty Queen Katy." The fact that our nickname made it to the prof...well, it just made me giggle. Anyways...not why I loathe Beauty Queen Katy.

So...Katy competed in Miss Vermont and won...not a shock. It was kind of a given. And that summer she stayed on campus to prepare for Miss America. I was staying on campus as well...and was the RA for the dorm that Katy and I were living in. She was staying in my suite. We didn't talk much.

Okay...this is why I loathe Katy. Everyone needs to have a platform when they are in pageants. It's either "World Peace" or "End AIDS now" or "Childhood Literacy", etc. So, what was Katy's platform??? It was a abstinence platform...mainly not drinking or having sex. Now..I don't have a problem with that platform if Katy wasn't a huge walking hypocrite. How, you say? Well...Katy and I shared a bathroom, a wall and a hallway. So...let me just say that she didn't live by her platform. There were beer bongs in the bathroom...and I could hear her drunken stumbling around the hallway when she came home from the frats. And...she also brought a frat boy home from time to time...and I have ears.

So...if you are going to have a platform of not doing something...well then maybe you shouldn't do those things. You make a platform that judges other young girls for doing the same things that YOU ARE DOING.

*grumbles* And oh yeah...Katy didn't make it past the first cut in the Miss America pageant....two years in a row. Boo hoo for Katy. See that was Katy's real pageant flaw in moving to Vermont. Of course she could win Vermont...cause she would be up against real girls, but well...we all know that that a Miss Vermont is never going to win Miss America or even place for gosh darn sakes.

So there is my..."I know Miss Vermont and she is a whore" story. It amuses me and I attempt to share it with as many people as possible. If you claim to be the virgin mary, but in reality...are a drunken whore...that's a story I am going to tell.

EDIT: When I was doing a google search to find a pic of Beauty Queen Katy...I found this website. Yes, some guy told some story about Katy being a drunk and a whore...and she sued him and won. But well...it's been indexed on google, so if you wanna read the story...click away.

Now the icing on the cake...would be if Beauty Queen Katy sued me. I dare ya! Hey, at least this entry amused me...if not anyone else.

And no...I don't loathe Katy just because she's a beauty queen and I am sporting some extra pounds. *glares*

Fall TV Lineup

It's almost fall tv time again...and yes, that excites me. So, are there any TV shows you are excited to see? new shows? old shows returning?

We got the Entertainment Weekly this week, so I while I was flipping through, I made a mental note of shows I wanted to watch, etc. Here is a run down of the falls shows I am planning on watching:

Sunday:

Simpsons- Fox: I've been a fan for a long time. The Simpsons is always enjoyable...and I can't wait to see the movie when it comes out on DVD.

Monday:

Dancing with the Stars- ABC: I love this show...for the people who can dance and for the train wrecks who can't. My fav this season without seeing a moment of it, Jennie Garth from the old 90210 days.

Chuck- NBC: This show is new and up against Dancing with the Stars. So, I am either going to have to make a choice or watch one on the tivo and watch one in my room. It's about this geeky guy who ends up getting all this secret spy info downloaded in his brain....kind of like a computer virus. Now...he has to help them solve their cases with the info in his head. Seems entertaining. I hope it lasts.
Samantha Who- ABC: This show stars Christina Applegate...who I love. She plays a shallow, bitchy liar...who gets hit by a car and gets amnesia. So, basically...she wakes up not remembering how much of a bitch she is. It reminds me of 13 Going on 30...where Jennifer Garner didn't know what an ass she turned into when she grew up, etc. Seems interesting...and I think I will definitely check it out.

Tuesday:

Bones- Fox: Bones is moving to a new day and time..yippee! I can finally see it now. I have been catching up on DVD for the last 2 seasons...and that is just unacceptable. I love this show. I love the science/geek aspect of it. I think the snark aspect of it. I love looking at David Boreanaz for an hour. But please...can Bones and Booth just get together already. Please!
Dancing with the Stars- ABC: If I am going to watch them dance...of course I am going to watch and see who gets to stay and who has to pack their bags and go home.

But...once January comes, I will be watching 24. WWJBD? (What would Jack Bauer do?)

Wednesday:

Kid Nation- CBS: This show...not so sure about it, but the hype is definitely there. I mean, it's an interest concept...kids making their own little society. It's very Lord of the Flies. But, watching it could also make me more of a reality tv whore than I already am...but still, I am intrigued. I already read that some kid..thinking it was kool-aid or something...drank bleach. tee, hee, hee...

Private Practice-ABC: This is the spin off from Grey's Anatomy. Addison goes to LA and joins a private practice...hence the name. Well, I want to watch it because it is connected to Grey's...which is a fab show. And, it has a stellar cast...Tim Daly(Wings & The Nine *pouts*)...Taye Diggs (Rent)....Amy Brenneman (Judging Amy). But, I will admit...I am already fully prepared to hate this show. I don't see it haven't the snark of Grey's...and without that, I am not sure. I'll watch though...cross my fingers and hope for the best.

And...when January comes, I will be watching Lost!

Thursday:

Alright...Thursday kills me. There is a lot I want to watch on Thursday. It's like the rest of the week has a lot of crap, but Thursday is the night all the networks are fighting for. Geez!

Ugly Betty- ABC: Ah, I love Ugly Betty. It's smart, it's sassy...I am currently catching up on the first season on DVD right now. I used to tape it and watch it later...since it was up against The Office and Earl...and I imagine I will be taping it again. It's too good though...one of the best comedies I have seen in a long time.

My Name Is Earl- NBC: I love this show. I have loved Jason Lee for years and years, so how could I not love this show. It makes me chuckle. Plus, Earl won my heart when there was a final clip showing Earl and Randy dancing along to Mr. Roboto. Ooh...I watched that clip over and over again. And now with Earl in jail...I can't wait to see what they are going to do with that.

30 Rock- NBC: I never watched this show last year...but I heard great things...and I love Tina Fey. I didn't watch it because it was up against Grey's...but now they are moving it to 8:30pm, so I might check it out.

The Office- NBC: They moved The Office to 9pm...which breaks my heart a little. It's now up against Grey's Anatomy. *pouts* I love The Office...it is well made and has some really intelligent jokes. I have been surprised I liked it since I usually hate american made versions of british tv shows. I love Dwight...and I really wanna see what happens with Jim and Pam on their date. So, I will probably be taping it and watching it later. I *heart* The Office.

Grey's Anatomy- ABC: I love Grey's...I didn't start watching it until S3, but I caught up on DVD. It's a great show.....seriously! *giggles* I was surprised that I liked it so much. And...let's not forget McDreamy. I loved him in 'Can't Buy Me Love' and still love him now. I gotta wonder what next season will bring...since in the season finale...everyone was unhappy. Will McDreamy and Meredith still be together? Will he continue to flirt with her sister? Will George and Lizzie stop freaking me out with their relationship? What will happen to Christina now that Burke isn't coming back because of his evil homophobness?? So many questions...can't wait to see what's going to happen. Seriously!

Big Shots- ABC: This is a new show. It is described as Sex and the City, but with men. It's a show about Big Shot businessmen...and their sex lives, relationships, etc. It has some dreamy men in it too...mainly Dylan McDermott(The Practice) and Michael Vartan (Alias). It definitely looks interesting...and worth checking out.

Friday:

Don't care about Friday. Why couldn't you put some of that Thursday goodness on Friday?

Saturday:

Don't care about Saturday either. Pfttt!

So, whatcha looking forward to now that fall tv is upon us?

since i seem to be in a gossip mood...

My roommate gets Entertainment Weekly in the mail. I never would order it myself, but since she gets it...I do enjoy reading it. It's got all that TV and movie news and gossip, but unlike the other magazines, it has a high level of snark to it. Anyways...the newest magazine has an overview of the fall lineup, so I took a gander. I am excited to see a lot of shows return, but also looking to pick up a few new shows this fall as well.

Since I seem to be gossiping all over the place lately...about Britney...about Tommy Lee and Kid Rock and all their craziness...the new show Gossip Girl on The CW caught my eye. It's made by the creators of the O.C. and even though I don't want to admit it, I watched the O.C. from time to time. I know...I know...I'm almost 30...I know.

Anyways, Gossip Girl is about all these incredibly hip prep school kids in NYC...and they get all their news and info about their school from this "gossip girl" website. It sounds like Perez Hilton, but of course the gossip girl is probably thinner, hotter and better dressed. I guess no one knows who the gossip girl is...but she is the one outing the best gossip and info in the school to the shagrin of the people she is writing about.

You know, I thought I outgrew the teen based shows or maybe I just don't want to admit that I watch them. lol Gossip Girl premiers on the CW at September 19th at 9pm. I might watch it, I probably just won't admit to it! *winks*

VMA wreckage...

I think we all know by now that Britney Spears was well...the Queen of Suckage at the VMAs last night. She wasn't in the best shape to be wearing just a bra and panties on national television...now if one more person calls her fat though, I am going to punch them in the face. If Britney is fat...well then, what the hell am I? Anyway...back to Britney's breakdown...she danced like...well, she danced like you do when you are at an aerobic class for the first time. She seemed confused and would take one step in one direction only to stop, stare and step in the other direction. Yeah...it was a train wreck. My roomie said...and I agree, Justified Timberlake had to be in the back going, "Phew...dodged the bullet on that craziness!"

But, I am not writing this to highlight the Britney drama... because I find the Tommy Lee/Kid Rock drama to be even funnier...and maybe less pathetic. I guess Tommy was talking some smack to Kid Rock...and then Kid got up and socked him in the face. Wanna see a video of it? Of course you do...click here and just giggle away.

Now, I gotta wonder what Tommy said to finally get Kid out of his chair and throwing punches. Hmmm....maybe something having to do with size actually mattering, etc. tee, hee, hee....

Now this could only happen at the VMAs....could you imagine this happening at the Oscars? Emmys? Let's see...Nicole Kidman starts jabbering at Katie Holmes...making jabs at The Creek and what not...until Katie has enough and turns around and smacks her. Hmm, I don't think so. Or...maybe at the Emmys...Jennifer Garner makes some comment to J-Lo...and then J-Lo scratches her eyes out. Not likely...no wait a minute.,..I would believe that cause J-Lo is hella gangsta.

I had a lot going on this weekend...so here is an update, cause I know you are waiting with baited breath.

Friday: I got out of work...and was so excited that I am officially on vacation. I immediately went and got my haircut. If y'all are lucky...I might post a pic, but probably not. And if I do, I'll probably post it on myspace...so if you aren't my myspace friend....well, sucks to be you!

Saturday: I had such a hard time getting to sleep on Friday night. I have had a hard time sleeping lately and I am not sure why. Anyways...it sucked even more than usual because my alarm was set for 5am...in order to head to Maine with my dad for the day. I prepared him when I got into the car that I might be Ms. Cranky Pants, etc. (Luckily I kept the cranky at bay). SO, we got into Maine at about 10:30 or so. We walked around the boardwalk and bought some of the best salt water taffy. If you have never had Goldenrod Kisses...you are missing out man. Seriously!!! Then, we went over to the local cemetery where my grandparents are buried and meet up with my 2 uncles. It was hot as balls that day....I mean, I was dripping. My uncles got there...we all chit chatted and what not, took some pics and then headed out of the hot evil sun and got some lunch. We went to this cool restaurant that is shaped like a boat, so you feel like you are eating inside a boat. I got an awesome veggie burger...which was homemade, not frozen, etc. It was yummilicious. We had a nice conversation at lunch...until my uncle showed that he is still living in a bitterbarn since my grandma passed away. But, we all moved on...so, it went back to being nice. After lunch, we drove over to the house that my dad grew up in. My other uncle (Non bitterbarn one)...knew the next door neighbor, so we got to walk through their yard to behind my dad's old house. It is such a beautiful home...and it is right on the water. When my grandma sold it...back in 1979...she sold it for $79,000...and it might go back on the market soon and it is rumored it could sell for over 4 million dollars. That's insane...completely insane people. And..after that, my dad and I drove back home and I was in bed EARLY. Long day, but very good day.

Sunday: The JDRF walk was on Sunday. It was a good day, but a hard one to get through. I got up and headed over to my dad's house at 10am...and then we headed over to the walk. To this date, I raised $416.00...so I think that is awesome. My roommate said her employer has a matching program, so it might be even more....so that's great. I am thankful to everyone who donated, it meant so much to me. And...for the next month you can still donate, so if you missed it...no fear, click away! Ooh...a special thank you to the anonymous person who donated. I wish I knew who ya were, so I could really thank you. I got to the walk...turned in my donations and then headed over to the start line. I saw a woman from my church and we walked together. My dad watched and took pics....which I might post on myspace...see there are benefits to being my friend!! LOL Of course, it rained like crazy for the first half of the walk. I had an umbrella...so it wasn't horrible. It let up about the time we were turning around and heading in the other direction. I talked with the woman from my church through the whole walk...and it was nice chit chatting with her. She's truly a remarkable woman. I finished the walk...hugged my dad...and then we left and grabbed some lunch. I spent some time at home with him and then headed back to the apartment to just sit exhausted on the couch...phew. I watched some crap tv...the roomie came home, chit chatted with her...watched more TV...and then headed to bed.

So...there ya have it. My recap of the first weekend of my vacation. So, what's on tap today??? Well...I am going to do lots of laundry and start pulling my bedroom apart. This week is all about organization...and getting everything clean and in its place. At first, I thought my roommate was on vacation this week...but she's not...so I am going to have to try to get all this stuff done without waking her up or bothering her. It's no biggie...just kind of changes the way I would do things, etc. (i.e...I planned on sleeping on the futon while I worked on my room, but obviously that won't work now, etc.) Oh well...life is about adjusting.

Hope everyone is enjoying their week....even if you aren't on vacation like me.

whoo hoo!

Here are a list of joys for today...because it's always good to see the joy in life, eh?

1. I am now officially on vacation. I busted my ass at work today....it's amazing what you have to get done, you get it done. Probably on most Fridays, I would have left some of the stuff...to Monday and be done with it. I just kept busting it out...and I got all the loose ends tied up. Tomorrow I am going to Maine with my dad...so that will be the beginning of my vacation.

2. I got a haircut tonight. I went with my dad to our hairdresser..and got a much needed cut. I got some cut off...it's a couple inches under my shoulders and had her add some long layers, etc. It looks nice...

3. I called my roomie when I got home. I was reading online about a Q&A that Kevin Smith is doing at the end of September. So...I asked my roomie if I bought tickets, does she wanna go? And...she does. So, I plopped down my credit card. On Sept 22nd...we will be heading to Cornell to see and hear some awesome Kevin Smith stories.

All in all....a good day.

The Biggest Loser makes me cranky....

I watched the reunion show of the Biggest Loser last night. Let me tell you...I was not impressed. They brought back some of the past seasons participants and then weighed them in to see if they KEPT THE WEIGHT OFF. I decided to watch...and see how people faired. I had read on the internet about a few people...if not more who gained a good deal of weight back. I wanted to see the continued success stories and the ones who continued to struggle.

Well, the show only had the people come on and weigh in...who kept the weight off. I felt like I was not being told the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

It's another reason why I don't like Biggest Loser. It's just not real. The way people lose weight...not realistic and not real.

*grumbles* Damn you Biggest Loser!

So You Think You Can Dance Finale!

That's right...the finale was last night. Let me tell ya, I love the bejesus out of this show. I admit that I am somewhat of a reality show whore...I don't want to be, but I can't help myself. But, what I love about SYTYCD is that it is an actual competition show...where people don't win by scheming...they win by being a GREAT dancer, etc.

And yeah, I love the dancing too. I used to dance when I was a little kid. I took ballet, tap and jazz...and a little gymnastics too. I quit in like the 3rd or 4th grade. Why? Because dance class was on Thursday nights and well, I wanted to be home to watch The Cosby Show. I know...seems like a bad call, but at the time...I was convinced I was going to marry Theo Huxtable. lol That didn't work out all that well...maybe I should have stayed with dance.

Anyways...I have been watching SYTYCD each and every week. I think I wrote an earlier post about how much I loved the show and some of the dancers. The final four was Neil, Danny, Sabra and Lacey. All 4 were fabulous, so it really was anyone's guess on who was going to win.

Here is what I thought would happen:

Lacey: I am not a huge fan of her. She is Benji Schwimmer's sister, last year's winner. I think she's cute, but I don't think she's in the league of the other dancers. Having said that, I thought she was going to win. She seemed to have a really strong fan base, so I thought she would walk away with it.

Neil: I adore him. I call him "New Travis" and Travis was my favorite dancer from last year. He actually doesn't dance anything like Travis, but he has that same charm and presence. I think his dancing is amazing...and he melds dancing and acting really well. Plus, he's adorable. I didn't think he would win...his only shot for winning was all the swooning girls who would be voting OVER and OVER again.

Sabra: This little hottie has only been dancing for 4 years...and she is spectacular. She dances with such emotion...and is just a joy to watch. She's smart and sassy...and just enjoyable to watch. I thought she had a chance to win it...if Lacey didn't take it. And everyone heard Nigel say that he hoped a girl would win this year (a guy won both season 1 and 2).

Danny: Oh, I love Danny. I think he's the best dancer I have seen on the show...he's just amazing to watch. I liked him from the beginning...just because he is Travis Wall's adopted brother. I adored Travis so much last year that....it just carried over. But then I saw Danny dance. He is just amazing. He has techical skills that no one could touch on that stage. When Danny did him solo dance on Wednesday...he got a standing ovation from the audience and the judges. He is breathtaking to watch. But...I didn't think he could win. He had a rough beginning. People didn't connect with him...they saw him as arrogant, etc. So, I worried he would go out of the Top 4 competition first...and that saddened me since talent above everything else should be rewarded.

So...what happened in the finale????

Lacey went out first. It seems cruel, but I was so happy about that. I just think she wasn't in the same league, so I think America got it right.

Next was Neil to go...and it left Danny and Sabra.

I couldn't be happier. I love them both...and would be happy if either won. I wanted Danny to win a little more, but it was like a 51/49 split. When the show host was waiting to say who won...I was excited because they both deserved it.

And who won???

SABRA! That little spit fire won the show....with that pretty and humble smile of hers. I can't wait to see what she is going to do with her career. She's just brilliant.

And as for Danny...we know he will do great things...he's got so much talent, how can he not?
