Weekend Recap...

Hey there internet....I had some busy and exciting times this weekend, so I thought I'd share it with you. So, here goes...

Friday: I got home from work...and since I hadn't bought my final weight loss reward yet, even though I "earned" it weeks ago, I decided it was TIME. So, my dear ol' daddio and I went to Devil-Mart and bought me a nice, new bike. I got a great deal. It is a Schwinn Jet Star Women's Bike. It was with the clearance bikes. I think someone bought it and returned it, so I got it for over 50% off. Sweet!!! I am so excited to have a new, swanky bike. I am going to ride it to work everyday that it isn't raining (like it is this Monday morning). I am going to love the instant exercise added to my day...and with gas prices, it'll be a great thing for the environment and my pocketbook. Whoo hoo!

Saturday: I worked on Saturday...we had a big huge community service project. We were cleaning up a local park and re-doing the trail that goes to it. And guess what...I rode my bike to work. It felt great. It takes me 10 minutes to drive to work and only 15 minutes to bike it. It's awesome. The day was great for community service. It was sunny, but not too hot...and there was a nice breeze. What we did for most of the day...is clear brush and what not from the trail above the park. So, I spent hours...dragging brush, twigs and rocks onto tarps and dragging up a pretty steep hill. Let's just say...I got a nice workout. It was nice to feel physically fit enough to do it. We started right around 9am...and finished up about 3pm. I helped clean up the site...and headed home around 4pm. I was beat by the time my bike and I got home. Phew. TIRED! I made dinner...and then felt ready for bed at about 7pm. I didn't head to bed that early...but I wanted to. I think I fell asleep sometime in the 9pm hour. My body needed the rest...let me tell you.

Sunday: Ah...lovely Sunday. I didn't go to church this week. It's the annual giving drive...where they feed people a nice lunch and talk about each person's weekly giving to the Church. I know it's how the church survives, but I didn't want to be made to feel guilty about my level of giving...or feel obligated to give more than I already do. I don't give a lot each and every week in the plate, but I do always give money or goods to the dinners we have...and I have given large sums of money to special projects...like funding the summer camp program, etc. So, I feel good about my level of giving. I know that the church is also a business and it has to be...but I figured I would skip a week that reminds me of that.

I did go over and hang out with my dad instead. We've been trying to declutter the house. I think it's going to be an ongoing project FOREVER. My brother's old room is just chuck full of junk we've acquired over the years. I have boxes and boxes of stuff from college....that I just packed up, brought up and never thought of again. Mind you...I graduated in 1999. So, I spent the morning going through it and throwing away 90% of everything there. I was surprised how emotional I was going through some of the stuff. I found a lot of old pictures...and a bunch of old clothes from college. I had forgotten how overweight I was in college...denial has a way of doing that. I was probably the biggest I ever was during my college years. It was really heartbreaking looking at those old pictures. And the clothes...same thing...I would hold up the physical reminder of how big I was and it was definitely eye opening. Of course, everything in me wanted to shred those pictures and throw away all those clothes...but I didn't. I kept the pictures. I am going to put them away in a little box...and keep them as a reminder of how much change I have accomplished. I'm also going to keep them as a reminder...that I don't want to gain this weight again...that this change is permanent. It's easy to let denial take over again...and let the weight creep back on. I also put the clothes in a pile. I'm going to wash the nice ones and donate them. Hopefully someone else who needs them...will put them to good use.

And the rest of my Sunday. I had a lunch with my roomie and another friend. We went to Panera for lunch. I love that place...they have really yummy food and if you make the right choices...a lot are really healthy for you. I had a garden salad with fat free raspberry dressing. And after eating, we went back to our apartment and watched a movie...August Rush. It was completely unrealistic, but I liked it. It was great to hang out with the girls...since we haven't done that in a long time. Since I hadn't seen my one friend is almost a year, it did take a little bit to kind of get to know each other again. Now that her schedule has changed, I am hoping we are going to be able to get together more often.

I think that's about it for my weekend report...and because it's Monday, I'll report that I weighed in and lost a pound this week. That didn't surprise me at all...especially given the cardio marathon I did on Saturday with working out on the elliptical, riding my bike to and from work and all the work done on the trails, etc. I probably burned close to 2000 calories that day...

Hugs all...I hope everyone has a great Monday, even if it is a rainy one like it is here.

Happy Earth Day!

I wish I could say I celebrated Earth Day today by not driving to work...but alas, I didn't. I considered leaving early and walking, but I let my hectic day and the inconvenience stop me. I have plans with my mentee after work...so I wouldn't have time to leave work, walk home and then be able to be at her house in time to pick her up.

But none the less...Happy Earth Day y'all!

This weekend, I hope to do something to celebrate Earth Day...a couple of things actually. One, I am working on Saturday on a Community Involvement/Youth/Earth Day Project. We are cleaning up one of the local parks and trails...as well as trying to encourage people to use them for recreation. It should be a lot of fun...and the weather is still showing that Saturday should be nice out.

And secondly, I plan on buying a bike this weekend. I looked last weekend, but I am moving beyond looking...and now I am buying. I am going to get a bike...and start biking to work and anywhere I can. I am excited by it. One, it's better for the environment to not be tooling around in my car all the time. Two, it's definitely better in terms of rising cost of gas. "They" say that gas will definitely be over $4 a gallon this summer...and given the fact it's gone up 30 cents in 2 weeks, I believe "them." And three, it's instant exercise. I'll get a nice little spurt of exercise both to and from work each and every day. So, I'm excited to get myself a bike and start using it.

Are you doing anything in support of Earth Day????

vacation on the brain!

The weather has been SO nice this week that I have been on vacation mode, even though I've been at work and work has been actually really busy and hectic. But still...it's that time of the year when you start thinking about fun vacations. School vacations are coming up...and we have a bunch of people at work on vacation next week. One is going to Myrtle Beach...another is going to Virginia for a family reunion...another is heading to Florida. Of course, all are driving...and no one is thinking of flying during the insanity right now.

One of my co-workers is planning on using her $600 from the government to go on a vacation with her boyfriend. I don't think they are planning on luxury vacations or anything, but they want to get out of town.

So...anyone have any vacations planned recently? Share away so I can be green with jealousy.

Watching old movies...that I've seen before!

I often end up watching a movie on cable...which I've seen before and sometimes even a movie I own. My roomie and I were joking about it the other day...and how really bizarre it is. I could watch a movie anytime...because I have the DVD sitting there in my room, but I will still sit there and watch it on cable, edited down and full of commercials. Doesn't make a lot of sense, eh?

Last weekend...I was trying to take a nap and wasn't doing it very successfully. So, I flipped on the tv to see what might be on. I ended up watching the end of Boiler Room. That's another movie I've seen before...many times. I like it. I'll admit it, the first time I watched it...it was only because Affleck was in it and I like him. His part is very small...but overall, I think the movie is good. Much like Wall Street...it's a movie about the stock business and commodity brokers. This one was about this scrappy guy getting a job at a firm and trying to do whatever he could to get a sale and to get money. He sees the brokers before him with huge houses and really nice cars....and of course, he wants that for himself. Unfortunately, to get those things it involves selling a stock about a product that doesn't actually exist yet...and when the research doesn't come through, the bottom falls out and everyone loses their money.

Of course...most people in the business aren't doing illegal things like in the movie, but it got me thinking. You couldn't pay me enough to be a broker. I would be driven nuts working in a field where you can't control the market and therefore, you can't control your job. One type of stock may be going through the roof...and then it crashes. And, I would also hate it because a downturn in the market doesn't just effect my job and income, but it effects those people I helped buy and sell stock. It would feel great when I was helping people make money, but it would feel absolutely horrible when I was in essence helping people lose money. I also could never do it...because honestly, I don't understand it. I am sure if I actually worked in the field...I'd see the crash coming...or would I? The market has been suffering lately...and I am sure brokers aren't loving their jobs right now.

Oops...missed Monday's weigh-in report!

My bad y'all....I let Monday come and go without mentioning anything about my weekly stepping on the scale. I weighed in...I just forgot to tell you all about it.

Well, this week...as I have been transitioning out of the weight loss phase and into the maintenance phase, I still lose 2 lbs. I am going to trust the transitioning process...and know that my weight may fluctuate a little bit in the next few weeks to a month. I'll have to make some changes if I keep losing at this even clip, but I also want to give the transition period a chance to work. What a problem to have, eh? Worried about losing too much...I never thought I'd be saying that.

I am adding a new food group item...each and every week. Last week, I added more veggies...and some of those forbidden veggies. I hadn't been eating things like carrots or corn because even though they are healthy...they are the starchier of the vegetables. So, last week...those resurfaced! And this week, I am adding fruit back into my diet. I have missed fruit something fierce...and last night...eating my thawed out frozen peaches...it was like I was in heaven. In the next coming weeks...I am adding more dairy to my diet and then adding in the grains. I've gotten so used to not eating any bread or anything in the grains family...that I know that is going to take some getting used to.

As for exercise, I didn't get my run in on Saturday...which of course...bummed me out. I really look forward to it each and every week. I had to work in the morning...and even if I did...we got hammered with quite a snow storm, so running outside wouldn't have been an option. I didn't just laze around though...I spent a lot of time with Mr. Elliptical over the weekend and made up for my lack of run. Next Saturday though...I am hoping that the weather is on my side and I get another run in, especially since my race is now less than a month away.

Hugs to all....and I hope everyone is having a healthy and happy week!

Saturday report....

Happy Saturday everyone!!!

I can't believe I haven't updated since Tuesday...I kept meaning to, but then I didn't. So, for today...I will do a bunch of mini-updates.

I think my roomie is feeling better...or at least that's what she says in email. I work days and she works nights, so I don't actually see her until the weekend comes around. She says her voice is still shot, but she is working towards being healthy again. That's great...and what else is great is that to this point...I have not gotten sick. *knocking on wood* The only thing that really happened...is that the constant washing of my hands...has left them super dry and I have a heat rash that has broken out on one of my hands from the constant washing in hot water. I'll survive though...and I am moisturizing like a mo'fo.

I did my taxes this week. I e-filed, so it doesn't take much effort...just entered all the info in the little boxes and clicked send. I am supposed to get my money back sometime next week. I plan on just using the money to pay off more school loans and what not, so nothing exciting...but I feel good having them done.

I had a good day at work yesterday. A client I haven't seen in about 2 years came to the office to say hello and catch up. He wasn't doing so well for a while, so it was great to see him...and see him doing well. It put a big huge smile on my face to see him walk into the office. Sometimes...the work I do can get overwhelming. The success stories are few and far between...so, it's nice to see someone on the right path, no matter how long or what it took for him to get himself there. It left me in a cheery mood on Friday.

And now...I am hoping to get my Saturday run in. It snowed yesterday, but it's stopped now. I hope the roads are safe enough because I would be really sad to not have my run. Today, I am going to run the 5 miles again, but I am also going to work on my speed. I think I am going to do some interval training. I am going to run my normal jogging speed for 4 minutes and then sprint for the 5th minute...then run for another 4 minutes...then sprint. I hope that will help me pick up my speed over the entire run...and keep me going for the whole five miles. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Alright...I'm off to start my Saturday. I hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!

Tax Time...at least for me!

So, it's February...and for me, that means it is time to get cracking and get my taxes done. I have never been one of those people who leaves them to the last minute and is up at midnight...pulling my hair out...on April 14th. My dad..surprising...usually ends up being one of those people. He usually does everything early, so that always catches me by surprise. He keeps everything up to date in terms of finances with a bunch of excel worksheets and I think he even uses a budget software of some sort, etc...so his taxes should be easy as pie. This year it might be a smidge more complicated because of my mom passing away, but I am not sure.

My taxes are pretty easy. I don't own property and what not, so it is just the standard return. I do it online because it is simple and easy and you get your return so much faster. I had to wait for a couple of my W-2s and some of my interest statements to be ready, but now I believe I have everything. I went through and quickly did the federal return to see what it would look like. I didn't file it, but just entered the information...and wanted to see where I was at. I was worried that I was either going to get little to no return or might even have to pay...because I had a bunch of untaxed income I had to deal with. I have my Americorps money...which is great because I paid off a bunch of money on my student loans, but now not so great because I now have to pay taxes on it. Plus, I still have a little income from when I worked at the video store...and they never take taxes out. Plus, income from interest accounts and another side job. So, that's a lot of money NOT being taken out for taxes. I did set up my main job to have extra money taken out for taxes, but I wasn't sure it would be enough.

When I plugged the numbers in for the federal...it shows me getting a return. It's not a huge amount of money, but heck...I am just glad I am not going to owe them anything. I haven't done the NY State one yet and for that one, I am pretty sure I might end up in the owe column, but hopefully not a lot. I plan on getting all the paperwork together and officially doing my taxes this week. Cross your fingers for me...that the state doesn't kill me. *winks*

Office Santa!

So, did you all get what you wanted for Christmas? I did. I got a lot of swanky new toys and presents...plus, I got to get to spend time with my brother and his family, the best present ever.

Now, if Santa came to work too, what would you ask Santa for? What kind of work presents would you want? I would want a few things. I would want a magic elf to come in at night and do all my filing for me. That would be the sweetest present ever. I would also like to have a phone in my office like my boss does. He has a phone that looks like this:

The phone is my office is not nearly this swanky. I don't know if our office has Talkswitch phones, but it sure looks like it. Mine just rings and does normal phone things. This phone...it tells you who is on the phone in the office. It also tells you who is calling. I would LOVE this feature most of all. Sometimes I am in the office with a client and the phone rings. I would love to know who is calling, so I can decide if I am going to take it. If it is another client, I would let the call go to voicemail, but if it is a judge or social services and might be about that client, I would definitely take the call. With my phone now...I have to guess and hope for the best.

Ahh...if only Santa came to my office. That would be SWEET!

TGIF!

I am so happy it is Friday. This week has just inched along....but next week should fly right by since it is Thanksgiving week and all.

I got my flu shot today at work. I have gotten one for the past 4 or so years. I used to not get them because I told myself I didn't NEED it, but since I work with the public...and am sometimes in and out of the jail, it's not a bad idea. So, I have the flu shot...and a sore left arm.

One of my co-workers doesn't believe in the flu shot. He believes that they exist, but he doesn't believe they work. Actually, he believes that germs and illnesses are just getting worse because of things like the flu shot...that we are slowly making a master flu germ that in the end...will kill us all.

So...I'm either going to be better protected this winter from the flu bugs or I am adding to the master flu germs that will BRING US DOWN! lol

Happy Bday to you!!!

One of my co-workers had a birthday today....she is officially 21 years old. Being 30, 21 seems just so young!

You know, I remember my 21st Birthday...which yes, it means I didn't drink so much that I didn't remember anything that happened. I was in my senior year in college. I was an RA on campus...and planned on going out to the bars for a brief time with my friends after classes and dinner and such.

That was the plan...until I got the call from residence life that there was an unscheduled RA meeting that night at 9pm or something like that (since some people had night classes). To say I was pissed was an understatement. I considered for a brief moment calling and saying that I already had plans and was not available...and still going out with my friends. I decided against it...I thought that the Res. Life Dept. wouldn't consider a night of drinking to be more important than their meeting.

So...I went...and was pissed walking into the door. They sang me happy birthday and made me some paper bday girl hat to wear. The meeting went super late...and I think I got out at like 11pm. I had class the next morning...so no bar hopping for me. And to add insult to injury...I found out that the meeting was rescheduled because someone else had plans on the usual meeting day and they rescheduled to oblidge them. When I found out about that...I basically hit the wall.

So, that's the story of my 21st birthday that did not involve drinking until I couldn't see or walk straight! Now the story of the weekend following my bday weekend is a different story...for a different day!

P.S. My co-worker is going out in town tonight...I'll be going along and celebrating with her. But, I will be a good kid and stay on my diet and not drink or eat any crappy, fatty appetizers.

what are you investing in?

I am constantly blogging about money on this site. I have made such attempts to learn everything I can about money management, savings, and investments. I have gotten books from the library, read stuff from the internet, etc. I don't want to make all those financial mistakes that I often see friends making.

One area I still really need to learn more about is investing and retirement. I know that money needs to be put away, but I don't know all the rules and the tips, etc. I also know that if you don't know what you are doing, it is much more likely for you to lose your shirt. Should I invest in real estate? Should I invest in technology? Should I invest in medicine? Should my portfolio be aggressive, conservative? At this point, I know what I hear other people saying, but I don't really know what the right answer is.

So, I have been reading more and more about investing. I got a book from the library and read about women and investing. I also read over MyWallSt.net. Heck, it's nice to have a place where people talk about stocks and what the options are...and that these people aren't making a commission based upon which choice I make. That makes it easier for me to trust the information I am getting.

I am slowly, but surely getting more investment savvy...so hopefully I won't be a homeless shlub when I retire. Wish me luck, so that I can retire and sit a top a mountain of money.

It's almost vacation time!!!

It's Thursday...the Thursday before I go on vacation. Let me tell you, I am completely in vacation mode and that kinda sucks. I have so much stuff to do. I have a bajillion things that need following up on...that need filing...that need to at least be organized before I can walk out the door. But, I just don't want to do it.

I am not doing anything special for my vacation...and I like it that way. I am spending the week at home and working on cleaning the apartment (desperately needs it...and only gets worse by the day). I am also re-arranging my room. I am going to Maine for a day with my dad. I have the diabetes walk. And, I might see about going to Vermont for a day..and see an old friend.

All in all, I am just excited to have a week just to veg out and not worry about anything. I like having a week where I don't have to deal with anyone's else crisis, etc. I like a week where I don't have to go to the jail and get anyone into drug rehab or hear someone tell me why they don't need rehab, etc.

I love my job...I really do...and right now is the perfect time for a vacation because I am feeling a smidge burned out. *yawns*

Happy Thursday everyone....T minus 2 days until vacation. Yippee!!!

P.S. I dropped by my dentist yesterday and gave them an insurance check that came in. I checked my balance and it looks like my insurance will cover more than I thought it would...so I won't be out a million bajillion dollars like I thought I would. yippee again!

treatment and consequences!

As most people know, my job revolves around the criminal justice system and alcohol and substance abuse. Basically, if someone has broken the law and their addiction was a factor in that case, I do an assessment and if appropriate make a recommendation for treatment. Sometimes it is people doing outpatient treatment and then maybe getting probation or electronic monitoring. Sometimes it is people getting released from jail right into an drug rehab program, usually a 28 day stint. Sometimes it involves someone doing a long term inpatient and then getting involved in a intensive program like drug court.

It all really depends...on so many different things. It depends on their level of addiction and how severely it has impacted their lives. It depends on their criminal history and their likelihood to re-offend. It depends on their motivation for recovery, etc. There are so many different factors and treatment options. The one thing I have learned is that there isn't a cookie cutter way of doing this. Each person's treatment recommendation and plan looks different because what might work for person A is not the same thing that would work for person B.

I was talking to some people at work on Friday about the Lindsey Lohan nightmare and her plea deal. I don't wish bad things for her...really, I don't. But, I am saddened to see that she really isn't getting any consequences for her actions. I am glad she is in drug rehab again, but I am not sure if that will be enough for her. I mean, she got charged with SEVEN misdemeanor charges (and could have been charged with 2 felonies as well). She got charged with all that and she ends up with a plea deal including ONE day in jail, 10 days community service and completing a drug treatment program. I am happy she is being forced to complete treatment, but I also think she is being shielded from the consequences of her actions. I know if Joe Shmoe off the streets got arrested with her charges, he wouldn't be walking out with a deal like that. And, I also know that if people don't face the consequences...it makes recovery SO much harder. The excuses become easier. There is a reason why people usually have to hit rock bottom. Rock bottom gives you that extra shot of motivation to actually make recovery work.

Anyways, enough complaining about Lindsey. I think her court deal is unfair, but I also worry that this isn't the last we will see of her legal and addiction problems. I hope her family and people around her wake up and really do something to help her. My advice to anyone out there who knows someone suffering from addiction: Get them help and don't hide the consequences from them. It may seem mean, but in the long run it's probably the kindest thing you can do.

first free day!

Yesterday was such a beautiful day to have the day off. It was sunny and warm, but not too hot. I didn't have a lot of plans, but that's kind of the point. I woke up early...watched a movie...and then had lunch with 2 friends. It was nice to be out and about on a workday and just doing my own thing. We ended up going to Friendly's...I have a friend who loves the place. I had a nice grilled cheese sandwich and some fries. Mmm...yummy.

And then I ran some errands...went to the video store...went to the library...and then headed home to get ready to go to the dentist. Aurgh...I hate the dentist. Actually, I take that back...I very much like my dentist, I am just afraid of all dentists. He's so aware of this too because he always asks me if I am doing okay...and what my anxiety level is whenever he comes into the room. I had to have my tooth that had a root canal done looked at. He said it was starting to get infected, so he had to get down there and look at it. He said it would probably be fine, but he did mention that if the tooth was cracked or whatever, it might need to be removed. I was not to happy to hear that. My teeth aren't the best in the world, but I would like to keep em, ya know? Well...he looked at the root canal and it looked okay, so he just need to make sure the infection goes away and...phew! He basically inferred that my last dentist might not have done it right, so he is going to make sure it is done right this time. I might just start not being scared of him...oh wait...not yet. I still am panicked in fear when I just think the word dentist. Eeek!

And after my dentist appt...I just hung out at home, made some dinner, watched some crap tv. So basically that's the recap of my free Monday.

Free Monday!

Today is my first Monday where I am off work. Let me tell you, it's awesome...for a couple of reasons. One, I went to the racetrack with my dad yesterday...and if I didn't have today off, I know I would have been completely wiped out. And two, I am going to have lunch with some of my friends today...they work the second and night shift. So, having the day off makes it so we can actually make plans.

ooh...more about the track. I have never been to the horse track before, even though we only live about 15 minutes from it. I am not much of a gambler and I like my dollars to stay in my pocket and all. But...it was my dad's company's corporate day at the track. So, I bet on some races...and all in all...did OK. I think I came up about 13 dollars ahead, which is better than being 13 dollars in the hole. Plus, I had one race where my horse 'Wish Me Success' wasn't even in consideration...but then at the last second, she shot out of no where and won the race. It was pretty cool.

And...we did get free chairs at the track. I don't really want them, so I am trying to sell them on ebay, but there are a bajillion on there, so I don't know if they will sell.

Oooh...and I watched Are We Done Yet? this morning...on my DAY OFF. I really liked Are We There Yet?....so I hoped I would like the second one. All in all...not really. To me, it seems like someone spent a weekend watching Money Pit and Funny Farm and decided to steal all the funny parts of that movie and do it again with Ice Cube. It was funny...but then again, the originals were funnier.

Alright...off to shower and then to a nice lunch...and then...gulp...to the dentist. *pouts*

Freez the pain away!

Sometimes I am a working out fool. Well, I used to be a working out fool. Sadly, I have been a working out sap lately. This week, I have been doing some cardio and weight lifting.

Well...my body has been punishing me for thinking that I could still do everything with the same intensity. I did my weight lifting routine on Tuesday night and well, I woke up on Wednesday hurting. Basically...all the muscles that I own hurt. And what hurt the most, is the right side of my neck. You know the spot...where the neck and the shoulder blade meet. It just aches. Every time I move my shoulder. Ouch. Every time I move my neck. Ouch. I had to help a co-worker move some boxes today and I thought my neck was going to actually break and FALL OFF.

So, what did I do to make it feel better? One, I complained a lot. That's always helps. Two, I made some yummy dinner. Yep, helps. Three, I ate some Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream. If yummy dinner won't help...ice cream definitely will. And then I got just a smidge practical. I put some Freeze It on the back of my neck. At first, I wasn't so sure. One, I have found pain reliever stuff to be smelly. I don't like smelly. Two, it is blue so I was afraid of it staining the back of my shirt. And three, I wasn't sure the goo would actually work.

Well...it's either the ice cream or this stuff works! My neck is still sore, but feels so much better. Let's go through the things I was concerned about. One, it wasn't smelly...or at least bad smelly. It has menthol in it, so it has a nice, clean smell to it. I don't feel like I smell like a medicine cabinet. Two, I was afraid it would stain. Yes, it is blue...but it doesn't stain your skin or your shirt. I got some on the collar of my shirt and it doesn't look like I am part smurf. Three, it does work and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg....or need a prescription.

I think I am going to bring this stuff to work for when we have to do community service. We always come back to the office chuck full of aches and pains. It'll definitely be an awesome addition to our first aid kit.

You know, I think I love this Freez It stuff so much....I might marry it. *giggles*

new work schedule

Today was the first day that I worked the new, summer schedule. What is this new summer schedule? Well...it's flippin' sweet. I work longer days, but work 4 days and get 3 days off. Some of my co-workers have been doing this for weeks, but I just started today. I wanted to take Mondays off and I was teaching a class at work on Mondays. This Monday was our last class, so I started working the new shift.

I think I am really going to like it. The only downside...is working later Tues-Fri. I didn't leave work today until almost 5:30pm. But then again...when I am sleeping in on Monday mornings, I think it will be totally worth it.

Flippin' sweet man...flippin' sweet!

cake, cake...everywhere!

I think someone might be trying to kill me...with cake. We have had cake at work almost everyday this week. We had a birthday yesterday and today...and tomorrow, we are having another cake for a new employee who just had their birthday.

I enjoy cake. Cake is yummy...but I think if I eat one more piece of cake, I might go into to a constant state of sugar shock.

I am going to try to avoid the cake tomorrow, but I am not sure if I am going to be successful.

It doesn't feel like Wednesday!

This week...it feels like is has taken forever. Work has been pretty busy, so it feels like I have done much more work this week than just a couple days worth. Now, I know I get down time at my job too...so I am just praying for some of that down time to come my way.

I'm going on vacation in a few weeks so if nothing else, I will get some down time then. I am not going to do much for the week...clean the apartment, do some shopping, get some rest, and a lot of nothing.

Okay...back to the grind...the busy grind!

TGIF!

Ahh...I am home from work and happily entering a long weekend. I was SO tempted to take today off of work and just spend it lounging in the sun or taking a nice walk along the bike trails or in the park. But alas, I decided to work the day and then enjoy the nice weekend. What are my plans you ask? Well...Saturday I am going to Maine with my dad, just for the day. And then on Monday, I am sure I will do something in celebration of Memorial Day.

Enjoy the long weekend...if you are in my neck of the woods, it's supposed to be gorgeous.
